Last month was our first full newsletter and we got some nice compliments on the tips. Some customers do however find it a bit too long. So this time round, we will just summarize the topics and provide links to the details if you are interested to read further.

3. Useful Tips of the Month

3.1. How to speed up your system?

Do your system takes a long time to start up?
Is your system running much more slower than when it is first bought?

Some possible reasons and solutions for this slowness includes:

Many hidden applications are loaded on windows startup. These hidden applications takes up system resources are usually installed in the background without your knowledge by the software you bought. To solve this problem, uninstall applications that are not needed or used anymore.
You have installed one or more applications that uses up too much system resources. Example of such an application is a desktop and explorer "skin" changer. This type of application uses up lots of system resource for its images. It is recommended they be uninstalled.
Your hard disk free space is low. This can be caused by temporary files not being deleted by applications that create them. You can use one of those PC clean up utilities to help you clear unused files. A good time to do clean up is everyday just before shutting down down your system. Our PC Shutdown is specially designed with this in mind.
Your hard disk space is not optimized. Run the system hard disk optimizer once a week to keep your hard disk in tip-top condition. Right click on a drive in Windows Explorer, select Properties, select Tools, press Defragment Now.

If after doing all the above steps and your system is still slow, the next best solution is to add more memory (RAM) to your system. RAM is very cheap now. With more RAM, your system will access the hard disk less, and so it would run very much faster. Hard disk access is the main cause of system slowness.

Previous versions of PC Shutdown was a "personal" version that does
not support multiple users workstation well.

we also add an option to display currency trading symbols.
